Thanks so much for this great question,as a retired Permanent Secretary and retired class room teacher,up on my assumption of office in November 2012,we quickly swung into action to ensure that we revived the lost Glory of teachers and teaching profession across the state in line with our mandate as state teachers service commission, because our mandate are enshrined in the edict of 1986 as amended in 2009 the state House of Assembly and part of this mandate is ensuring the promotion, discipline, regulating, retirement, training and retraining, welfare of teachers and their recruitment process to meet up the acceptable standard of teaching skills across the state, and as mentioned earlier upon assumption of this office we embarked on two weeks capacity building training of my staff in this commission,we later employed the services of lawyer to guide us on our aims and objectives establishing this commission, and this is a commission mandate with all responsibilities on take caring of teachers’ plights in the state and again l met up 6000 files waiting for promotion these files have been there dumped for almost a year with implementation of their promotions and nobody attend to it,so out passion as a teacher,l had instructed all my staff to the needful in making that those people waiting for implementation of their respective promotion got promoted to the next grade level according to the rudiments of civil service laws and regulations in Bauchi state..lam a teacher by profession,so l know the plights of teachers and l don’t want see them suffering after conclusion of this exercise within shortest possible period a time and through Commissioner of education we wrote memo to His Excellency, Governor Bala Muhd requesting for the approval of those 6000 teachers waiting for promotion, and graciously the governor approved it, despite the facts that there was an embargo on implementation of Promotion due to the economic predicament but Governor Bala Muhd out passion for Educational Development in the state gave an approval to those teachers for their promotions to be implemented, and then before l came on board this commission was operating on analogue system but now it’s fully digitalised in all perspectives,we also introduced revalidation of teachers system, it’s a method or system in which the records of teachers cannot be tempered with by evil minded people such as their date of birth, retirement age, promotion, infact everything has been fully automated and when it’s your retirement period it shows when you log on our portals,we blocked all the leakages where frudulent and corrupt practices are taking place such as issuing fake appointments by some bad elements in the society pretending that it was given the commission, which was absolutely wrong and unacceptable to the rudiments of the commission’s established laws, ethics and guidelines to deceive the public with fake appointments letters,we are very much honest in everything we do as a commission, and not only that we also blocked corrupt practices in financial leakages, now all our internally generated revenue goes directly to the state government account through TSA implementation policy and by the special grace of God we are now fully intended to bring more Development oriented policies to this commission.
