Jubilation in Sokoto as Ahmed Aliyu takes Oath of Office

His Excellency Dr Ahmed Aliyu has been sworn-in as Sokoto State governor, the ceremony take place at Giginya Stadium, Sokoto on Monday.
The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Sa’idu Sifawa, administered the oath of office to Aliyu briefly after Malam Idris Gobir, his deputy received the oath of office.
Delivering the inaugural speech, Aliyu called on the opposition in the state to join hands with him towards rebuilding the state.

In his words, “We have the desire for a new Sokoto State that will be accepted by all the citizens, as such I called on those that contested and failed the mandate to join us in the realisation of our dream,” he affirmed.
The new governor assured the people that his administration would be all inclusive.
He further gave an assurance that his government will not disappoint the people for the trust reposed on them but that he will pay attention and welcome good advice before taking any decision.

On his agenda he said, the administration will give priority to youth empowerment, security, sanitation, water supply, education and economic drive.
This he said is to ensure that the APC administration in the state fulfilled the pledge of restoring the past glory of Sokoto State.
Most prominent in the occasion were the Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar, the Distinguished Sen. Aliyu Wamakko and Malam Yahaya Abdulkarim.

Also witnessed the ceremony were former Deputy Governors, Alhaji Chiso Dattijo and Alhaji Mukhtari Shagari, former ambassadors, Sahabi Gada and Abubakar Makama.
Some officials from the neighbouring Niger Republic also graced the occasion
