Non Governmental organization helps 5000 victims of intimate partner violence in Bauchi

The Family Support Initiative (FASI), a Non Governmental Organisation has assisted over 5000 victims of intimate partner violence.
FASI also empowered women in the areas of education and skills acquisition.
The President of FASI Kate Isah stated this while speaking at a two-day event symposium and empowerment skills acquisition training in Bauchi as part of the celebration of three years activities of the organization.
She said “Under three years, FASI has been able to intervene and assist over 5,000 persons/victims, supported them through the most critical part of their journey to the point of restoration of their dignity as a person.
“We have over 110 cases which are at various stages and still ongoing across the globe:”
Kate said “At FASI, they envision a world that protects the right of every individual to a relationship free of violence, abuse, and oppression.
“FASI’s Mission statement is dedicated to the advocacy of the safety, security, dignity, and empowerment of the victims/survivors of intimate partner violence.”
She said the goal of the organization is to improve individual and community health and wellbeing through statewide visionary advocacy and social change efforts, supporting our members and informing the public.
“We are working to continuously build the capacity of a diverse network of domestic violence and other community-based programs to help effectively assist victims/survivors of relationship violence and their families.”
The president said they are aware that they can”t undo the abuses experienced by victims of intimate partner violence or reclaim the time they spent in servitude to the abuse and the abuser but they can ensure that they help people who are either going through abuse or recovering from abuse in the little way they can.
National Secretary of the Association Ainau Musa said they have carried out sensitization to women in Jamaare, Ganjuwa, Krfi and Bauchi Local Government Area where they were educated on the way to protect temelves from intimate Partner violence and report any abuses to the authorities in order to get protection.
Ainau said as part of the actvitities marking the 3rd anniversary of FASI, the intiative has presented acheque of 220,000 to 10 students of Government Comprehensive Govt day secondary School in Bauchi
She said the initiative trained Women on different skills they give them suphgheti machineand advised them to makegood use of the items given to them.
Many Speakers at the occasion condemned intimate partmer violence which they aaid women are the majority of the victims .
