Delta State Empowers Women Through WESAP

It was a jamboree in Asaba as the Min. Of Women Affairs , Community And Social Development through the Office Of the Delta State Gov. empowered hundreds of women in the Women Empowerment Skill Acquisition Programming (WESAP).
Invited guests were left astonished and spell bound at the massive starter packs and empowerment given out to beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event , the Executive Gov. Of Delta State, represented by his wife , Dame Edith Okowa, gave glory to God saying the empowerment will make things better for women and Deltans in general. She said empowerment is an integral part of Govt. and will lift women out of poverty. According to the first lady, 1350 girls have been empowered by the office of the Girl Child Entrepreneurship while150 forms are currently distributed with 500 people under going training. She said 460 women were trained in 2020, 375 in 2021 and 325 in 2022. She then advised the women not to sell their seeds as there will be nothing for them to harvest in the near future adding that posterity will not forgive those who sell their starter packs. Finally she advised women to stand for themselves and stop the pulling down syndrome
Also delivering her speech, the Honorable Commissioner For Women Affairs, Community And Social Development, Mrs. Flora Alatan, welcomed everybody to the event and said empowering women contribute contribute greatly to every society as women play an important rôle. She said the Ministry has empowered over 1460 women across the 25 LG of the state in different phases from 2020 till date saying it has lifted women out of poverty. She then poured encomiums on the Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for his love for women , saying the state is blessed with a good Governor that is interested in economic emancipation of women.
In the same vain, the Hon. Commissioner For the Girl Child Entrepreneurship Programme, Hon. Nkechi Chukwura who represented the collaborating MDA described the Gov. as a man that has a heart of gold and a listening ear saying he has empowered over 10, 000 youths women and men. She stressed further that Delta State takes the lead in terms of empowerment as experienced in YAGEP SMART Agenda, WESAP and the Girl Child Entrepreneurship Min.. She added that 1350 people have been empowered by her Ministry with money to rent lock up shops.
This is the 4th phase of the Women Empowerment Skill Acquisition Programme (WESAP) and 325 people are empowered with beneficiaries receiving massive starter packs plus the sum of 100. Thousand Naira each
The event was graced by top Govt. Officials including the SSG and the Chief Whip of the house
