Community Health Board inducts 555 at its 43rd Convocation

The Community Health Registration Board Council of Nigeria (CHPRBN) has inducted new set of its Community Health Officers (CHO) as the 43rd set of the graduate of Community Health workers took their oath at the Naval conference center Abuja to officially mark their journey as Health practitioners.

The new set of five hundred and fifty five Community Health Officers were from fifteen accredited universities Teaching Hospitals across the country .

The graduates which were admitted with Hippocratic oath had been trained in areas such as health promotion, disease prevention and primary healthcare services among others, which has equipped them professionally to deliver the needed first-call service in rural communities.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer/Registrar of the Board, Alhaji Idris Bashir (lifidin Jamaa) said, “the Covid-19 pandemic and other emerging public health disease have highlighted the importance of having a strong and resilient healthcare system that can effectively respond to the needs our community. “

“Our Community Health Officers have shown remarkable resilience and adaptability in responding to the challenges posed by such pandemic which should be commendable.

He said the Board has introduced and launched the community Health integrated automated cloud (CHIMACS) which will enhance easier information sharing and retrieval as technology will go a long ways to enhance the performance of the Health Officers.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the governing Board, Sule Galadima Toma urged the inductees to take advantage of the Mandatory Continuous Professional Development (M.C.P.D) programme offered by the Board, in addition to others past qualification training courses that will soon commence with the aim to specializes in PHC services

He said the bachelor of Community Health sciences and Post graduate Diploma in Community Health Education are also being introduced in the University’s for Community Health Officers to upgrade themselves.

In his message, the National President of Communities Health Officers (NACHPN) Comrade Kabir Yahaha said that he want to see members to be Community Health Officers who are determined to apply the legal and ethical principles in their daily practice as a means of reengineering and moving the Community Health practice forward.

He commended the effort of the Chairman and the Governing Board, the Chief Register, Principals of Communities Health schools and the entire members of the Staff for always making the occasion a memorable one during the induction of students

The Guest Speaker, Professor Kehinde Joseph Awosan of Department of Community Health of the Usman Danfodiyo Unversity Sokoto in his tttled, Self-Development for Community Health Practitioners: Opportunities in the 21st Century say, “Community Health Practitioners can take opportunity and practice successfully in a constantly changing world like we are with new diseases emerging and re-emerging across the globe if they prioritize self-development in community courses that has been expanded across the country universities.

Highlights of the events include,presentations of awards to past Board leaders,induction ceremony,paper presentation etc
