Proprietor Laments Lack of Government Support for Private Schools

The propriator of UNC Comprehensive Secondary School, Idu, the host community of Idu Industrial Area in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Prof Josiah Jidejisos Ejieuka has lamented that successive governments at all levels failed to provide enabling condition for private schools across the country.

He pointed out that since education is for the future of the leaders of the country, there is the need for government at all levels to back private schools.

He made the remarks during his school’s graduation ceremony, recently, and suggested areas of governments can intervene to boost private school education in the country.

Among the areas he suggested were building and equiping of libraries; building of adequate class rooms and offices; including the teachers in the different trainings the governments used to organise for public schools teachers; putting in place, structures such as electricity, pipe burn water, good roads, among others that make learning conducive.

He also urged governments to always ensure that the private schools benefit from vehicles, computers, text and exercise books and finance for the maintenance and running of schools as they do for public ones.

He therefore said that the reason why he has been appealing to the governments at all levels to always assist the private schools, is due to their contributions towards promotion of education in the country.

He however said that he believes that the present government would accommodate the private schools, as they do to the private schools. This he said would go a long way to Leonore educstionin the country, adding that education with the fear of God is the, Udi, Enugu state, among others in attendance.
