SENATOR WAMAKKO; THE POLITICAL BEACON OF SOKOTO STATE

From the creation of man, through the Adamsonian age, traversing the Roman Empire, the British feudal lords, the mongol empire, to our present era, humanity has been searching for leaders, not mere leaders but genuine leaders with fire in their bellies and humanity in their hearts. Without the pragmatic and compassion of leaders, people suffer, services are disrupted and level playing grounds will be distorted.

Be that as it may, Sokoto State, the Seat of the Caliphet is among the most fortunate in Nigeria and beyond. The reason for being fortunate, is the singular fact of having the ebullient and compassionate father, teacher, leader and progressive politician, Distinguished Senator His Excellency, Aliyu Magatakardan Wamakko (Sarkin Yamma).

Groping back through the trends of time, the Former Governor , Deputy- Governor, Senator and philanthropist has carved a niche for himself through carefully positioning himself on every milestone of progressive politics of Sokoto state bestriding it like the true collosus that he is where human capacity and potentials are carefully harnessed and channelled toward developing the resourcefulness of the teeming youths of the state, engaging with the most vulnerable in the society, positively.

Additionally, Sarkin Yamma has been strategically consolidating his vibrant power base through empowering his loyalists and grassroots initiative.

While people are experiencing great multi-dimensional depressions, he initiated intervention initiative capable of alleviating the crippling poverty index per square meter. Rarely can one cover up the impact of his humanitarian interventions to the people of the state or the nation at large.

Unambiguously, philanthropy and positive empathy are part of his nature, not a second nature but his overall body language. Hazarding a gaingit will not be wrong to state here that the likes of His Excellency, Senator Aliyu Wamakko in the political firmament of the North-West and other regions – is rare exceptionally.

While deploying wit, tact, and uncommon compassion, he always leave people awe-struck by his delivery. Known as the godfather and patriarch of Sokoto politics, Sarkin Yamma has ensured that loyalists, dedicated mentees and hardworking politicians were duly rewarded corresponding to their levels of sacrifice and loyalty to the APC.

Through his magnanimous goodwill and intimidating political posture, Senator Wamakko led the APC to decisive victory clinching the State Governors seat. He did not stop there, through candour and dramatic sagacity, he nominated a sound mind and very loyal protege Rt. Hon. Barrister Bello Mohammed Goronyo as Minister respectively.

Words cannot adequately do justice to his humility, great forbearance and compassion to humanity-not only from Sokoto State- but anyone approaching him for genuine ideas for personal and Community engagements . Great body of work by various writers have penned down in recognition of his unrivalled sagacity and human friendly manners which have attracted enormous respect of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who according to him pristine honor and his ears for critical discussions.

Rightly, he was uproariously and unanimously nominated the Chairman Senate Committee On Local and Foreign Debts. Through his vast knowledge in the management of National Resources and critical debt profile control, Senator Wamakko’s Chairmanship in that Committee will impact positively on the development and strategies of debts management.

However, it is a national assignment, but the corresponding benefit will much felt by people of Sokoto, the North-East/North -West in particular and Nigeria in general.

Today, just as in the future, when an example of good person is spoken of, when an example of a progressive politician is sought, that example unsurpassed by any other is His Excellency Senator Aliyu Magatakardan Wamako’s example.
