Sen. Joel-Onowakpo’s Bill On Nursing School Passes First Reading

Sen. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, representing Delta South has said his bill seeking the establishment of a Federal School of Nursing and Midwifery, at Patani, Delta State has passed first reading in the Senate.
The Senator stated this in a letter addressed to his constituents, in Abuja, weekend.
In the letter which a copy was seen by this Newspaper, the senator stated that, this is in line with his “commitment to ensuring that Delta South Senatorial District receives “quality representation.”
He revealed that he has sponsored the “Federal School of Nursing & Midwifery, Patani, Delta State (Establishment) Bill 2024. The Bill, with serial number SB635, passed its first reading today, Thursday, 31 October 2024, in the Senate.
“The importance of this professional institution to the overall health and wellbeing of our people and indeed all Nigerians cannot be overemphasized.
“Among other things, the institution shall serve as a training ground for future healthcare professionals, providing essential education in nursing and midwifery.
“It will enhance the skills and knowledge of individuals who are passionate about improving public health. Furthermore, the institution will contribute to addressing the shortage of qualified healthcare personnel in the region, ensuring better healthcare services for the communities within Delta State and beyond.
“Thank you for your continued support as we work towards building a healthier and stronger Delta South Senatorial District,” the letter read.
