DEPOWA President Inaugrates 38-Bed Maternity Centre at NDA, Kaduna

The President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Oghogho Musa has commissioned the newly constructed 38-Bed Maternity Centre at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) Hospital, Afaka, Kaduna State.

It could be recalled that Mrs Musa performed the groundbreaking ceremony of the edifice in January 2025 was also the Special Guest of Honour at the commissioning of the Maternity Centre.

A statement signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director Defence Information, disclosed that the project was constructed, equipped and donated by members of the NDA 38 Regular Course (RC) Association of which the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa OFR is a member and also patron.

The Maternity Centre is built to boast the healthcare services within the NDA and neighbouring communities.

The services to be provided at the centre includes childbirth, antenatal, postnatal care and family planning.

Speaking at the event, the head of the Committee for the execution of the project, Rear Admiral Murtala Bashir (retired) appreciated the Patron of RC 38 Association, General Musa, all members of RC 38 Association, Service Chiefs, NDA Commandant and all that contributed to the completion of the project.

He further mentioned that the facility contains consulting rooms, equipped operating theatre among other facilities.

He therefore urged the wives of the RC 38 members known as the Unique 38 Ladies through the President DEPOWA to further show more support in the ultramodern Maternity Centre.

Highlights of the occasion was the handing over of the facility by the President 38 RC Association, Major General Solomon Udounwa to the Commandant NDA, Major General Abdul Khalifah Ibrahim and group photographs.

Present at the commissioning were the representative of the Vice President of Nigeria in person of the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadeja, representatives of Service Chiefs, Commandant NDA, Wives of members of RC 38 (Unique Ladies), Executives/ members of DEPOWA and other serving and retired senior officers among other dignitaries.
