Troops Repel Bandits’ Attack in Zamfara, Recover 73 Rustled Livestock
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have repelled an attack by armed bandits in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, recovering 73 livestock believed to have been rustled from local communities.
The operation was conducted on Thursday, October 8, 2026, by troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, during ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations in the state.
According to the military, the troops received intelligence that armed terrorists were moving between Kombo and Gurus villages in Anka LGA, prompting an immediate response to the area.
On arrival, the troops made contact with the armed group and engaged them, forcing the attackers to flee and abandon the livestock.
The recovered animals comprise 14 camels, 19 cattle and 40 sheep, bringing the total to 73.
The military said the livestock are currently in the custody of the troops and will be returned to their rightful owners after the necessary verification process.
Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting vulnerable communities, disrupting criminal activities and restoring lasting peace and security across Zamfara State.
