NANTs Woman Leader Bags Chieftaincy Title

A former Chairman, Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Alphonsus Ofuebe and the traditional ruler of of Ifite Ogwari Kingdom in Anambra State has conferred a chieftaincy title on Chief (Mrs) Rachael Adewumi, the Woman leader, Abuja chapter of National Association of Nigerian Traders (NANTs).

The event which took place in Abuja recently was in recognition of Chief (Mrs) Rachael Adewumi’s philanthropy and passion for the poor as well as the less privileged in the society.

Chief (Mrs) Adewumi according to the royal father has dedicated her Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Takem Empowerment Initiatives (TEIs), for training and empowerment of widows and the less privileged hence the recognition with the chieftaincy title of Ana Agbanyere Ogbenye the the first, literally meaning, “the hand that supports the poor” of Ifite Ogwari Kingdom.

“What I put into consideration before giving this title to Chief (Mrs) Rachael Adewumi is because she has been bringing succour to the less privileged in the society and my people from Igbo land have also been benefitting from such gestures of hers.

“While I urge her to keep it on, so as to be receiving more blessings from God, I challenge people to emulate her, for the interest and the wellbeing of the poor around us. For devoting her resources and time to help the poor, my prayer for her is that God continues to bless her abundantly.”

Reacting to the development, Chief of the Yoruba in Zuba, Abuja, Alhaji Muritala Odumbakun described the recognition as befitting and worthy.

He said: “For this royal father to recognise our daughter, it will go a long way to motivate her to do more in the area of helping the poor and it will also promote unity and love in our society today. It is customary to give women titles on merit in Yoruba land too. So my advice to her is that she keeps doing well.”
