The Vice Chancellor of Plateau State University (PLASU), Prof. Shedrach Gaya Best, has denied allegations of imposing illegal tuition fees on postgraduate students.

Prof. explained that fees are structured according to program duration, ensuring transparency.

The VC made this known on Thursday during an interactive session with journalist after touring the institution’s facility ahead of the 8th and 9th combined convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday 14th February, 2026.

The combined convocation scheduled for 14th February, 2026 will saw 2,500 graduands cutting across first degrees and school of post graduate studies obtain their certificates.

According to Prof. Best, “we expect 2,500 degree graduands for two academic sessions ready to obtain their certificates

“There are projects that were due for commissioning, we expect the contractors to tidy up, the 150 seater ultra modern auditorium, the faculty of communication amongst others.”

He also revealed the security surveillance upon students is beyond the walls of the university, citing a robust collaboration between the institution management, host community and the various security agencies.

The VC advocate for collaboration from well spirited individuals and corporate organisations in providing more hostel accommodations for students as agitation and struggle continues.
