Over 50,000 workers in lmo State have kicked against the appointment of Austen Chilakpo as the Special Adviser(SA) to the Governor on Labour Matters

One of the workers who gave his name as K C Nkwo stated that when Austne Chilakpo was the leader in the state he did not fight for the welfare of workers in the state.

“What he did was to allied with the government to victimise us as well as reduce the workforce of the state arbitrarily with out due process”

He made way for the numerous sufferings which Imo workers are facing now, adding that he initiated the cut salaries, Ghost Workers and Pension Syndrome that affect legitimate workers and pensioners throughout Imo State

Recently Governor
Uzodimma approved appointment of Chilakpu as Special Adviser on Labour Matters

Until his apppontment Chilakpu, is the South East Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress and currently an executive member of the NLC in Imo, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.

He has served in different capacities in the NLC, such as former member of the National Executive Council (NLC Federal), former Chairman, Constitutional Review Committee, (NLC Federal), Chairman of many NLC Committees on Negotiations and other industrial relation matters, among others.

A graduate of Business Management from the Abia State University, Uturu, Chilakpu, has played key roles in Imo State NLC, working in capacities such as former Auditor, former Secretary, former Assistant Secretary, former Vice Chairman, former Chairman, and former member of different boards in the State, to name but a few.

Chilakpu hails from Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State and married with children.
