The Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla has On Friday, 3 October 2025, commissioned newly built and furnished block of 6 classrooms donated to the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria, by the Nigerian Navy (NN).

CNS was received on arrival by the Commandant NMS, Brigadier General Owoicho Ejiga (also an Ex-Boy), who was the Chief Host and coordinator of the entire event.

The CNS was joined at the occasion by the Commandant Depot Nigerian Army Major General Ahmadu Bello Mohamed and the Commandant Armed Forces Command and Staff College Jaji, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Idris Alhaji.

At the commissioning ceremony, the CNS noted that the facilties was provided with a “deep sense of honour and nostalgia as a proud product of the Nigerian Military School, Zaria.”

“As an Ex-Boy, I take pride in the fact that many of us who once marched on this Parade Ground have gone on to serve this nation in diverse capacities in varied professional fields. This is indicative of the transformative power of the training, mentorship, and regimentation that NMS has always embodied.”

The commissioning was preceded by a beautiful parade in slow time, quick time, and silent drill. To underscore the beauty of the parade, the CNS stated that, “today’s parade, executed with precision, discipline, and pride, is not just a ceremonial rite but a reaffirmation that the traditions we inherited remain alive and unbroken. To the Boys on parade, I say, well done.”

The CNS used the opportunity to emphasise the need for deeper collaboration between NMS Zaria and the Nigerian Navy Military School, Ikot Ntuen, established in 2018 by the NN with the aspiration that young children would be trained and encouraged to pursue careers in the NN.

In addition to the newly built classrooms by the NN, the CNS also commissioned a newly executed Solar Streetlight project donated by the NMS 86 Set.

After the commissioning of both projects, the CNS had lunch with the Boys of NMS and interacted personally with them, encouraging them to keep working hard and excel in their military and academic training.

The ceremony was well attended by many dignitaries and senior officers.

Notably, senior military officers who are also Ex-Boys of NMS were present, including:
Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, Chief of Policy and Plans, Nigerian Navy. Rear Admiral Ayo Olugbode, Hydrographer of the Federation.

Other are Rear Admiral DF Mathew,
Rear Admiral SJ Bura, Rear Admiral EO Ferreira,
Rear Admiral B Iyalla,
Rear Admiral HD Zakaria
and many others.

Century News Update reports that emotions and nostalgia of returning to their alma mater and contributing to its progress were evident and palpable.
