The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday officially flagged off its 2027 election campaign in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other prominent party leaders calling on Deltans to massively support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori and all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

Addressing party faithful at the Oleh rally, Governor Oborevwori explained that his decision to join the APC followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders and was informed by the need to align Delta State with the Federal Government to accelerate development and attract greater opportunities to the state.

He commended President Tinubu for his economic reforms, noting that the increased revenue allocations to state and local governments had enhanced their capacity to execute development projects and meet their financial obligations.

The governor further disclosed that 17,500 Delta State students had benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), encouraging more eligible students to take advantage of the initiative.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education and healthcare, Oborevwori also revealed that the State Executive Council had approved the construction of divisional police headquarters across the 25 local government areas of the state in anticipation of the proposed establishment of state police.

At a separate rally in Ozoro, the governor called on the Isoko people to demonstrate their love and support for his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, an indigene of Isoko North, by voting massively for the APC.

He urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation, strengthen their political structures and work collectively towards securing victory for all APC candidates in 2027.

Also speaking at the Ozoro rally, the governor’s wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, appealed to the people of Isoko Nation to support President Tinubu, her husband and other APC candidates.

Describing voting as a powerful instrument of democratic expression, she declared: “Your vote is your voice, your strength and your weapon. Use it to vote for APC.”

The Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to delivering meaningful development, citing progress in road infrastructure, education and healthcare. He urged Deltans to sustain their support for the government.

In his remarks, the APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, presented party flags to the party’s candidates for the Delta South Senatorial District, Isoko Federal Constituency and the various Isoko North and South State Constituencies. He charged party faithful to take the campaign to their respective polling units and ensure victory for all candidates.

Former Governor of Delta State and immediate past Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, challenged party members to work towards delivering more than two million votes for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, stressing the importance of winning across all elective positions.

The Director-General of the Delta APC Campaign Council, Senator James Manager, acknowledged the economic challenges confronting Nigerians but urged citizens to remain optimistic, expressing confidence that the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms would yield improved results.

Similarly, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka, expressed satisfaction with the impressive turnout at the rally, describing it as comparable to the party’s national campaign gatherings. He maintained that the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms were designed to address the country’s challenges and reposition the economy.

The Coordinators of the Isoko South and Isoko North Campaign Councils, Hon. Itiako Ikpokpo and Hon. Oviemuno Oghoore, respectively, joined other party leaders in mobilising support for the APC and its candidates.

Other prominent political figures who addressed the gathering included the member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Hon. Julius Pondi, who commended Governor Oborevwori for his commitment to youth appointments and empowerment, and Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, who pledged the support of women for the party’s candidates.

In a further highlight, Chief Solomon Ogba drew attention to the proposed Federal Medical Centre in Oleh and the planned dualisation of the Oleh Roundabout-Iyede Road, describing the projects as significant developments that would enhance healthcare delivery, infrastructure and economic activities across Isoko Nation.

The party flags were formally presented to Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, candidate for Delta South Senatorial District; Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, candidate for Isoko Federal Constituency; Hon. Lucky Idhove and Hon. Ferguson Onwo, candidates for Isoko South Constituencies I and II, respectively; as well as Engr.
