Sokoto Caliphate Appoints Emir in Imo

The Fulani dynasty which has been assumed to be the oldest dynasty in West African Subregion stretching from 1804 to 2022 Which was over 217 years in existence has extended the dynasty by appointing an Emir in Imo State.
The newly appointed Fulani leader in Imo State Alhaji Abudulahi Umaru has given assurance to use his Office to restore peace between the Fulani herdsmen and farmers in various communities in Imo State.
Speaking with journalists after protracted meeting between the Fulanis, Hausa, Farmers, Security Agencies, Leaders of Mayeti Allah and the Serikin Hausawa of Imo State, Alhaji Awal Babar Suleiman held at Sarikin’s Palace at Ama-Hausa, Douglas Road Owerri Imo State.
He stated that he would do everything within his powers to ensure coorporation between the fulani herdsmen and farmers in Imo State.
Umaru Who expressed joy for his appointment promised that he is ever ready to have total control of every situation that might arise between Imolites and the Fulanis in the state.
He regretted that
before now there were a lot of complaints about the activities of farmers in Imo communities and Fulani herdsmen or the Cattle herders in the state, blaming it on the lack of leadership.
“With my appointment, I will make sure that both Farmers and the Fulani herdsmen live and operate comfortably in their various domine “
The new Fulani leader who was heavily guarded by the Nigerian Army from the 34 Field Artillery Brigade Obinze also promised to cooperate with relevant bodies to make sure that both parties live in harmony.
In his remark the representative of Imo State government, the Senior Special Assistance (SSA) to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Gender, Vulnerable, and Northern Affairs (men) Hon. Suleiman Ibrahim Suleiman further stated that the essence of the meeting was to assist Imo State Government to create a peaceful Environment for Fulani herdsmen and Farmers in all the Communities in Imo State.
