Army Condemns Photos Of Slain Troops On Social Media, Threatened legal actions
The Nigeria Army has condemned the viral photos of some of its slain troops on social media who were killed by insurgents, and criminal have surfaced lately, threatened a lawsuit against any offender.
Army spokesman, Brig.Gen. M.M Yerima on Tuesday condemned the indiscriminate sharing of Photos of the soldiers who died in Rivers, Borno and other States as a result of insurgents, and criminals on social media.
Part of the statement reads,
While the Nigeria Army, and its Personnel understand the nature of the noble calling and are ever ready to confront any danger or adversity on the way, what is most unfathomable is the glee with which some people share the gory pictures of officers and soldiers who are either killed, or wounded in action in the media.
These unpatriotic acts are done without any consideration for the memories of the departed personnel, or their family members. In some cases, the loved ones do find out about their unfortunate death in such callous manner before they are even contacted by the military authorities.
