The Nigerian Army Troops of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued 11 kidnapped victims in two separate operations in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, following swift responses to security threats on October 30 and 31, 2026.

The operations, conducted by troops of Sector 2 deployed for counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations, led to the rescue of seven victims along the road to Ribah town and four others in the Wasagu area.

In the first operation, troops responded to a distress call reporting that armed bandits had blocked a road leading to Ribah town and were attempting to enter the community.

On arrival, the troops discovered that some civilians had been abducted, while motorcycles were found abandoned at the scene.

The soldiers immediately pursued the fleeing criminals and engaged them in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon seven kidnapped victims.

The rescued victims were identified as Sa’adu Bala, Dantani Yahyi, Nura Musa, Nasiru Muhammad, Abdulakeem Abubakar, Abdulahi Maikudi and Zaki Gom. They have since been reunited with their families.

In a separate operation, troops conducting patrols in the Wasagu area came under fire from terrorists. The soldiers responded decisively, forcing the attackers to flee and abandon four victims who had earlier been kidnapped from their farms in Wasagu Village.

The rescued victims were identified as Lawali Ali, Samaila Shuaibu, Kasimu Shuaibu and Aliyu Bala, all indigenes of Wasagu Village. They were subsequently handed over to the community head.

The successful operations underscore the troops’ continued efforts to protect vulnerable communities, disrupt criminal activities and deny terrorists freedom of action across the area.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and security of communities within its area of responsibility, assuring residents that troops would continue to respond promptly to security threats.
