BASEPA Organised a One Day Session On Legal Instruments Review.

The Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA) has today organised a one day session nn Legal Instruments Review to provide a legal documents that will deals with the emerging environmental challenges.
Declaring the session open, the Director General of the Agency Dr Ibrahim Kabir MNES, FSEPH, FIICA (Maga Yakin Cheledi) said the exercise targets to review the existing laws of the Agency where he highlighted the significance of the exercise and re-emphasized his commitments towards moving the Agency forward and redirecting it to its core mandates.
Dr Kabir who is also a professional environmentalist said the exercise is very important to the existence of the Agency which was established in 1994 as a servicing and regulatory Agency of all the environmental activities in the state; where he said the law review in 2017, which produce the current documents that today’s exercise aimed at also producing a able legal instrument that is all encompassing, capable of dealing with emerging environmental nuisances in the state tagged as BASEPA Law 2022.
The Director General also said that today’s exercise is the continuation of the earlier one conducted in January this year at the federal University Dutse which produce a draft copy that is today put to another exercise for onward transmission of same to the Bauchi State House of Assembly for legislative works and finally to His Excellency for his ascent.
He also commended the Chairman House Committee on Forestry and Environment of the State Assembly Hon Musa Wakili Nakwada who graced the occasion, appreciated the synergy between the two arms of Government and call on all the participants to make valid contributions during the presentation and congratulate them for being part in this historical exercise, he also commended members of the press of different media organisations, who, inspite of their tight schedules managed to attend the session.

In a goodwill message, Hon Nakwada, member representing Bogoro constituency,. said he was highly overwhelmed with the commitments and resourcefulness of the participants and said that the Agency is doing very well in the discharge of it’s official responsibilities and also declared the legal instrument review exercise as excellence, pledged to do all it requires within his power in ensuring the smooth passage of the law at the assembly and call for the executive arm to always implement laws enacted by the lawmakers for the benefits of the State.
Hon Nakwada also call on the Agency to intensify their efforts in tree planting exercise in order to mitigates the numerous environmental challenges such as, desert encroachment, soil erosion, water flooding as well as climate change and charged the participants to contribute immensely in the exercise.
The Agency’s mobile court judge and the Agency’s legal adviser, Mrs Laraba Hamisu and Barr Haruna Mohammed said the exercise is timely, saying that the document will in no small way help in the discharge of the duties at the Agency and acknowledged the commitments, dedication and seriousness of the Director General and commended his foresight for organising this important activity.
All the participants in their various responses made valid contributions towards achieving the objectives of the exercise which also indicates their commitments towards taking the Agency to the greater heights and hoped that the review exercise will provide a legal document for the overall interests of the state.
The exercise which took place at the conference hall of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) Bauchi State Council had in attendance the Director General, Directors, the Magistrates Sectional Heads, Desk officers and other staff of the Agency.
