Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State on Tuesday charged the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Corps members deployed to the state to join hands with the Government in providing qualitative medical services, education, social and physical development, as well as promoting and fostering of Information Communication Technology knowledge among the citizenry.
The governor gave the charge at the occasion of the closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course for the Corps members deployed to Bauchi held at the State NYSC orientation camp, Wailo.
Governor Bala Mohammed told the corps members that his administration will not spare any effort in ensuring that their acquired knowledge and creative energies are fully harnessed and channeled towards making Bauchi State to be the pride of the nation.
Represented by his Deputy, Mohammed Auwal Jatau, the Governor said this has become imperative as his administration is committed to the improvement of the standard of living of the citizens of the state through sustained implementation of people’s oriented policies.
He said on its part, the state government has created an enabling environment in order to provide necessary support for the corps members to carry out their community development projects effectively which is an important segment of their service year, hence the need for them to build on the enviable legacies of their predecessors.
You may recall that few weeks ago when I declared open this orientation exercise you were encouraged to be of good conduct, respect every camp official and take advantage of your presence in Bauchi State to cultivate meaningful friendship among yourselves while shunning ethnic and religious bigotry.
“It is gratifying to note that in compliance with this directive, all of you have exhibited high level of commitment, dedication to duty, creativity and patriotism in the course of the orientation exercise.
“As Government, we have put in place a credible reward system to recognize and honour deserving corps members who distinguish themselves during the service year. With the comprehensive training you have all received, there should be no excuse for any of you not to live up to the national expectation of being agents of positive change in you respective host communities.”
The governor at the occasion reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to ensuring that the corps members become self reliant after their service year and stressed the need for them to remain focused and equip themselves with the necessary entrepreneurship skills so as to be entrepreneurs that will actualize the much desired industrial revolution of the country.
On his part, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Salees Gamawa, commended the efforts of the NYSC State Coordinator and all camp officials in ensuring a hitch free orientation course and acknowledged the unwavering support of the administration of Governor Bala towards NYSC activities in the state.
Earlier, the NYSC coordinator in the state, Rifkatu Daniel Yakubu urged the corps members to accept their postings in good faith and confront the challenges of their service year with determination to enable them excel, saying that series of empowerment programmes have been put in place by the government, hence the need for them to take advantage of the programmes to become small scale business operators
