BREAKING: FCT Minister Nyesom Wike Commissions N50B Rehabilitated Lower Usuma Dam Water Treatment Plant

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr Nyesom Wike, has commissioned the rehabilitated Phase II Water Treatment Plant at the Lower Usuma Dam in Bwari Area Council, Abuja. This project, awarded in 2022 at a cost of N50 billion, was completed under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The minister highlighted Key Projects as in “Increased Water Supply, that the rehabilitation of Phase II aim at boosting the plant’s carrying capacity, improving the supply of clean and potable water to FCT residents’.
“Strategic Investments, in which the Federal Executive Council has approved contracts for rehabilitating Phases I, III, and IV of the Lower Usuma Dam water treatment plants to ensure a stable and reliable water supply across the FCT.’

“Satellite Towns Focus, this New water projects will be flagged off in Bwari and Karu, costing over N90 billion, to extend essential services beyond the city center “, Mr Wike emphasized.

In terms of Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the minister boosted FCT’s monthly IGR has risen significantly from N9 billion to N30 billion, enabling the payment of contractors and funding of new projects

In Anti-Corruption efforts, Barr Wike vowed to fight corruption, ensuring public funds are used judiciously for the people’s benefit.

The minister emphasized Capital Projects as administration priorities over recurrent expenditure, aiming to create a legacy of growth and positive change in the FCT.

Minister Wike stressed on the legacy of development that his administration will leave office with its head held high, having fulfilled its commitment to transform the FCT
