CDC Chairmen Forum Caution Against Violence In BALGA Communities Ahead Of Nov 11 Guber Poll
By Amos Odhe.
Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairmen of various communities in Brass Local Government Area in particular and Bayelsa state in general are calling on politicians and their loyalists to play by the rules and exhibit sportsmanship before, during and after the November Governorship Election in Bayelsa State.
The Brass Local Government Area CDC Chairmen Forum also wants candidates of political parties and their foot soldiers to go about with issues-based campaigns and refrain from calumny or provocative comments that will trigger crisis in their communities.
In a Press Statement jointly issued by the BALGA CDC CHAIRMEN FORUM Chairman, Mr. Benjamin Obuala and the Secretary, Mr. Tonye Yemoleigha, the Forum cautioned against acts capable of turning communities in Brass LGA into theatre of political violence.
The statement once again called on youths in every community of Brass LGA to desist from being willing tools in the hands of political office seekers to create an atmosphere of unrest and mayhem.
It tasked community leaders to be vigilant and be proactive to prevent any unrest in the area during the governorship election.
The CDC Chairmen Forum’s caution is coming on the heels of earlier fear of political violence raised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which it said must have been informed by intelligence reports.
In another breath, the Brass LGA CDC Chairmen Forum applauded Governor Douye Diri for kick-starting the Nembe-Brass road and urged him not to relent in his infrastructure drive.
