COAS tours 82 Div, charges troops on patriotic service
Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj Gen Faruk Yahaya has charged troops of 82 Division, Nigerian Army on sustained discipline, selflessness and patriotism in the discharge of their duties.
Yahaya, addressing the soldiers at the Abakpa Cantonment, Enugu state, in his maiden visit to the 82 Division promised to motivate them with provision of requisite support, including improved welfare and equipment.
General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Maj Gen Taoreed Lagbaja told the visitor that the Division was committed to tackling all threats to national security in Southeastern Nigeria.
He lauded Yahaya’s concern for wellbeing of troops and for timely operational visit to the Division Area of Responsibility, a development, he noted, would shore up troops’ morale as they perform their duties.
The COAS, on the tour, commissioned a remodelled Quarter Guard building serving as office and accommodation for troops on duty. Yahaya was also at the Ground Training Command of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) where the commended the synergy between the Nigeria Army and the Air Force, pledging to sustain same for success of military operations.
He lauded the “fantastic job NAF is doing in support of land forces in the fight against insurgency and banditry”
