Delta State CSO Inaugurates New Excos

It was like a family re union when members of the Delta State Civil Society Organization converged at the Top View Hotel, Asaba, to celebrate their 2yrs anniversary and also inaugurate their newly elected exco members
Speaking at the event, the outgoing chairman,Deacon Okezi Odugala, said the association was formed in April 2020 to foster unity among members and be a team player adding that there are over 280 team leaders accross the State. Speaking further, he said the first major challenge that confronted the association was the covid 19 issue as the body responded swiftly by making enlightenment and advocacy visits to Markets, LGA, Hospitals etc and also helped in the distribution of covid 19 materials and palliatives stating that the body is also in partnership with the State Government on election matters as well,as security and other govt projects
The chairman of the occassion and the CEO of Shola Mese Foundation Mr. Shola Mese, said NGO,as the name implies, is non governmental and non profit and so anybody who wants to set up one must be passionate and commited,as there is no renumerarion attached to it. He said his organization has graduated more than 600 youths in various skills,and urged CSOs in the State to join in the fight against drugs as that is what leads to social crime among the youth. He concluded that his organization is ready to partner with anybody in the fight,against drug among youth as this will help reduce the burden on the various security agencies, especially the Police and also help the youth to live a drug free,life
Meanwhile, the Obi of Ubulu Unor, Obi Kachikwu Afamefuna,,who represented the State Traditional Rulers Council has commended the CSOs in the State for doing,their job passionately and congratulated them on their second year anniversary saying that Royal Fathers will,always partner and assist them in their pursuit. Also, the State chairman of the Nigeria Union Of Journalist,(NUJ)Comrade Mike Ikeogwu has carpeted some CSOs who have politicised and compromised their intrest in the job maintaining the fact that CSOs are supposed to,challenge govt excesses and high handedness
Those inaugurated,are, Dr. Martins O Kedienho as president, Augusta Impact Keneboh as vice president, Egbe Oghenemine Ambrose as secretary, Akah Patience as financial secretary, Ayovuata C Uyoyou as treasurer, Ayoromieghe Williams Jnr as PRO, Agboro Harrison as Director of programmes, Comr. (Engr)Okwusi Rodney Nnamdi as provost, John Faith Evonemo as welfare officer and Ogbalor Festus,Obokparor as assistant secretary
In his inaugural speech, the newly elected President, Dr. Martins Kedienhor thanked,everybody for coming and promise to synergise and work hand in hand with other stakeholders to achieve the following objective,unification, partnership,capacity building and development affirming that he cannot do anything without the support of the stakeholders
Other speakers at the event include,ACP Alhassan Tijani, Dr. Mimi,Oseji of the Min. Of Health,,Mr,Robert Otteh Of the State correctional centre, Engr. Ifedi Okonkwo,Of the State Public Procurment Commission Bishop Uranta Of Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN)and activist Rex Anighoro SSA to the Governor on Civil Society
The Delta State CSO is the umbrella body of all CSO and NGOs in the State and has not levied any of its members till date
