FIVE DEAD IN BAUCHI FLOOD…Gov.Bala Mohammed.

Sen. Bala Mohammed, Bauchi state Governor has said five persons have died,farms,homes food stuffs,domestic animals,birds,and personal effects worth millions of Naira have been lost to flood in Warji local government area of the state. 

The Governor sad this when he paid a sympathy visit victims of the flood at Dagun village,Warj local government .

Gov.Mohammed who also visited the scenes of the damages,also assured them of his government’s quick intervention.

The relief materials,he stated, would be provided to cushion the painful effects of the loss.The materials would be provided as soon as inventory of the incident is completed.

In his words”we d are here to commiserate with the people and families of those who lost their loved ones,and properties”.

“We understand about five to six people have lost their lives, ii properties worth millions of Naira were also lost. On behalf of myself,my family and the government of Bauchi state,commiserate with the district head of Warji and all the families that are affected by the unfortunate flooding”.

But charged them to remain law abiding citizens tand always listen to authorities on how to build their settlements,adding I kmimgovernment will send engineers to proffer solution to the causes of flood in the area.

“We understand that this town is highly populated and that is why people have built houses on the water ways,and of course,we have to provide engineering solution”.

“But certainly, we have to listen to the authorities so that at the end of the day we are not going to have this happened again”.

He added that his government will work with federal  government and spirited public individuals, organized public sector  and internationalist community to take inventory on  environmental problems and challenges not only in warji but other LGAs with  a view to preferring solutions

The governor further appealed to traditional  rulers particularly  district heads to ensure justice and equity is done in the  distribution of relief materials  to victims of the flood disaster.

 In his speech, Director General,Bauchi state Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA), Dr Rilwanu Kabir said Gov.m Mohammed has directed the State m Management (SEMA) to tour all the 20 LGAs to assess any possible threat to the environment with a view to taking proactive measures. 

Dr Kabir spoke on behalf of SEMA.He said apart from lost of besides loss of lives and properties worth millions of naira, many people have been rendered homeless in the area.  :
