As the nation awaits the constitution of President Tinubu’s cabinet, the Advocate for Better Leadership and Sustainable Rural Development Initiative (ABLE) has called on the new President to enter his name in the history books by appointing the first Abuja indigenous FCT Minister or at least Minister of State.
The group’s Director General, Hon. Destiny Uche Madu, made this call at a press conference in Abuja.
According to him, “this is informed by the large-heartedness and accommodating philosophy of coexistence by the FCT indigenes which made them to yield space to the emergence of the fourth (4th) non- indigenes as a democratically elected Senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“They include Senator Hairat Abdulrasaq Gwadabe, Senator Isa Maina, Adamu Ahmed Abdulkadir and now Senator Elect, Heebah Ireti Kingibe.
“It means basically that a scientific modus for national coexistence has been perfected in the FCT.
“It is fascinating seeing how many FCT Indigenes even worked and voted for the emergence of the above mentioned.
“On behalf of the ABLE, I earnestly appeal to the FCT indigenes to continue to set the pace in harmonious sustainable peace and development by being true to their essence and stretching their imagination inorder to avoid a repeat of the ENDSARS Scenario which eventuated into untold hardship, destruction, murder, lawlessness and unbridled criminality.
Hon. Madu used the opportunity to also appeal to the leading presidential candidates and their followers to join hands with the new President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to move the country forward.
“His Excellency Peter Gregory Obi, His Excellency former VP Atiku Abubakar and His Excellency Dr Musa Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso should robustly collaborate in the greater patriotic interest by avoiding extremities, sticking to the objective middle and taking a cue from the edifying political behaviour and attitude showcased by His Excellency Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in the aftermath of the 2015 General Elections when he stated that the political ambition of any individual is worth the blood of any Nigerian,” he said.
He further appealed to various security agencies in the country to maintain alertness so as to nip in the bud activities that might led to break down of law and order.
He charged the traditional and chieftaincy institutions in FCT, led by Royal Majesties; the Ona of Abaji, the Aguma of Gwagwalada, the Gomo of Kuje, Sapeyi of Garki and others, to embark on bridge building, confidence building and relaxation of tension.
This he said will bring all round development and called on security agencies to collaborate with community based institutions, community based leadership, associations and town hall meetings as well as grassroot based institutions.
He commended the efforts of FCT leaders; Hon. Comrade Abdullahi Candido, Prince Tanko Karshi, Hon. Ayuba Jacob Ngbako, Hon. Micah Jiba and a host of other leaders in FCT who are promoting peace in Abuja.
