… Says civilians should also assist in apprehending the suspects

The Nigerian Military has declared eight persons including a Professor and a woman wanted in connection to the killing of 17 Nigerian Army personnel at Okuoma Community in Ugheli South LGA of Delta State on 14th March, 2024.

The declaration was made by the Director of Defence Military Operations, Major General Edward Buba on Thursday at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

The eight persons declared wanted are Akevwru Daniel Omotegbono (aka Amagbem), Prof. Ekpekpo Arthur, Andaowei Dennis Bakiri and Igoli Ebi (the only woman among them).

Others are Akata Malawa David, Sinclear Oliki, Clement Ikolo Oghenerukevwe and Reuben Baru.

Buba reiterated the military’s unwavering determination to apprehend the suspects, emphasizing the deployment of resources and the possibility of offering rewards for their capture.

ā€œWhat happened in Delta must not repeat itself again and it is for that reason we have put out banner of eight persons including a woman wanted,ā€ he announced.

ā€œWe would do whatever it takes to get these people. It will be needful to put bounty on their heads, we will do it.ā€

He stated that Military personnel are deployed across the country for obvious reasons, which are for the protection of the citizens and restore peace where there is crisis.

ā€œWhat we do where there is tension is to de-escalate it and when it has gone out of hand, we contain it to make sure it doesn’t spread.

ā€œIn Delta State, the incident that resorted to the killing of 17 soldiers that were buried yesterday will never repeat itself in this country again. We must never allow it.
