NAF Commissions CAS Special Intervention project In Adobu Community, Delta State
In furtherance of its sustained commitment to winning and retaining the hearts and minds of the people it serves, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commissioned a Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) Special Intervention Project (CAS SIP) in Adobu Community, Patani Local Government Area of Delta State. The project, executed by retired Air Vice Marshal Ebimbowei Dennis Yinkere, underscores the NAF’s people-centred approach to national security and community development. Sanctioned by the CAS, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the intervention forms part of a nationwide initiative encouraging senior Air Force officers to give back to their communities. It comprised the renovation and remodelling of the Adobu Community Town Hall, alongside a free medical outreach for residents, initiatives designed to deliver immediate social impact while strengthening trust, cooperation, and goodwill between the NAF and the civil populace.
The newly remodelled town hall has been upgraded to enhance both its aesthetic appeal and functional value, providing a dignified central space for meetings, cultural activities, civic engagements, and collective decision-making. The facility is expected to strengthen community administration, promote social cohesion, and serve as a hub for inclusive dialogue among stakeholders. Complementing this effort, the free medical outreach improved access to essential healthcare services for community members, enabling early detection of illnesses, addressing pressing medical needs, and easing the financial burden of healthcare on families.
Overall, the twin interventions are expected to significantly enhance the quality of life of Adobu residents while reinforcing the NAF’s image as a compassionate, development-oriented Service. The projects further affirm that sustainable security outcomes are best achieved when operational effectiveness is matched with genuine concern for the welfare of the people. Speaking at the event through the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the CAS described the initiative as a key component of the NAF’s Civil-Military Relations strategy aimed at deepening public trust and strengthening national security. He urged community members to continue supporting security agencies through timely and credible intelligence, assuring them of the NAF’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property nationwide.
In his remarks, AVM ED Yinkere (Rtd), the project executor, expressed profound appreciation to the CAS for the opportunity and support to give back to his community, noting that the project symbolised the enduring bond between the NAF and the Nigerian people. He commended the initiative as a positive outcome of effective collaboration between government, the military, and local communities, adding that the facilities would promote unity, comfort, and civic engagement. The commissioning ceremony was attended by dignitaries including a representative of the Executive Governor of Delta State, retired senior officers of the Armed Forces, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other stakeholders, reflecting broad support for the NAF’s people-focused approach to security and national development.
