NLC Set To Commence 5-Day Sit At Home Strike Action in Plateau

The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Plateau State chapter has concluded arrangement to commence a 5-day sit at home strike over Plateau Government Mon compliance with plea.

Labour said the sit at home strike would take effect from 11th December midnight to 16th December, 2022, since Government failed to fulfilling their demands and particularly the agreement reached on the 11th November, 2022 with intervention of the Secretary to the Government of the  State (SGS), Prof. Danladi Atu.

Part of the issues why Labour Union are embarking on sit at home strike action includes; lack of payment of salaries, non release of third party deduction e.g Dues, Cooperative deduction, Federal Mortgage Bank deduction” and shocked by the “stability in wages despite high rate of retirement witnessed.”

The Union consequently demand the constitution of a “high powered committee, Labour inclusive to conduct a holistic audit of the payroll system.

In a press release jointly signed Thursday by the chairman and secretary of NLC Plateau State chapter, Comrade Eugene Manji and Badung Y. Dalyop, and  issued to Journalists in Jos the state capital urged all members to adhere to the directive.

According to the statement, “Nigeria Labour Congress, Plateau State Council; Sir,  NOTICE OF WARNING STRIKE Following the meeting of ‘the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) Trade Union Side held on the 6″ day of December 2022, which reviewed communications and agreement reached between labour and  government, resolved to embark on a 5 — day Sit-At-Home warning strike commencing 12 midnight Sunday 11″ December 2022 to Friday 16” December 2022.

“This became imperative in view of the fact that Government reneged in  fulfilling our demands and particularly the agreement reached on the 11° November 2022 with intervention of the Secretary to the Government of the  State (SGS). 

“In view of the above, the Joint Council is calling on the leadership of the NLC to mobilize all its affiliates in ensuring the success of the Sit-At-Home warning strike”, the statement added.
