Okonjo Iweala Highlights Solution To Nigerias Economic Woes


The Director General of World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala on monday, outlined the steps Nigeria should take to avoid economic collapse.
According to the economic technocrat, Nigeria has to diversify from oil, to other source of survival.
We need to have a game plan to be able to escape the consequences of a monolithic economy in a fast changing world. She said this, after visiting President Muhammadu Buhari, to thank him, and Nigerians in her emergence as the head of WTO.
She said, Nigeria should tap into renewable energy, as some countries had already set timelines to end the use of vehicles, and equipment operated with fossil fuel. She mentioned Norway, which will from 2030 stop the use of petrol powered cars.
We have to start transitioning the economy into areas where we would be able to create jobs, and earn foreign exchange. She said “I’m really worried about that”.
Dr. Iweala further said, we have to look at the horizon, where many Countries are now moving to electric cars, said that Norway had stopped using diesel.
Concerning the establishment of the Dangote Refinery, she welcomed the idea, but said it’s a little bit late
