Operation FANSAN YAMMA Troops Recover 147 Rustled Livestock, Motorcycles in Sokoto
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered 147 rustled livestock and three motorcycles during a successful counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operation in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation followed a distress call indicating that suspected terrorists were moving a large number of rustled animals through communities in the area.
Acting swiftly on the intelligence, the troops laid an ambush at a known crossing point in Horo Birni village, where they intercepted the fleeing suspects.
On sighting the troops, the suspected terrorists abandoned the livestock and escaped into the surrounding bush, taking advantage of the difficult terrain.
A subsequent exploitation of the area led to the recovery of 147 livestock, comprising 101 cows, 44 sheep and two camels. Troops also recovered three motorcycles believed to have been used by the terrorists for mobility during their criminal activities.
Military sources said the recovered livestock have since been identified and handed over to their rightful owners, bringing relief to affected communities.
The operation underscores the sustained efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to combat terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities across the North-West, while protecting lives and property and restoring confidence among residents.
Security authorities reaffirmed their commitment to intensifying intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling terrorist and bandit networks operating within the region.
