Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA) in collaboration with Super Bikers Club of Nigeria and Peace Riders Association has kicked off keep Jos clean  camping as raining season sufficed.

The initiative is coinceded with PEPSA monthly routine exercise, aimed at enhancing sanitary environment.

Director General of PEPSA, Samuel Dapiya who led environmental sanitation task force team on Saturday, revealed sanitation in Plateau is daily, not just monthly. “Keeping the state clean and safe is a collective duty”, he noted.

Dapiya confirmed that today’s exercise is significant as they are flagging off keep Jos clean initiative in collaboration with the Peace Riders of Nigeria.

“Bikers from across the 36 states arrived yesterday, Friday, to participate in this initiative. Beyond sanitation, they have lined up several engagements in Jos, including visits to motor parks in partnership with the NURTW and outreach programmes such as a presentation at the School for the Deaf.

“This project is symbolic. It shows that individuals and groups from different parts of the country are willing to support what we are doing in PEPSA, especially in promoting peace and environmental sustainability.

“If Plateau were not peaceful, we would not see people travelling long distances to be part of activities like this.

“This flag-off is a clear indication that Plateau remains the Home of Peace and Tourism”, he mentioned.

The DG said even though the state experienced some tension last month, but expressed optimism that peace is steadily returning. “You can see people coming out to participate in initiatives like this again, which is encouraging.”

He appreciate governor Mutfwang’s consistent support and proactive leadership and the  level of support they receive now, including international collaboration, has significantly improved their operations at PEPSA.

“As the rainy season sets in, our message to Plateau residents is simple: it takes Plateau people to keep Plateau clean. If you own a shop, a business, or a house, and there is a gutter or waterway nearby, do not wait for the government to act. Take responsibility by clearing and desilting it. When you do that, we can come in to evacuate the waste.

“By the first week of May, we will commence large-scale desilting of major gutters and waterways. We encourage residents to partner with us to ensure these channels are free-flowing to prevent flooding and protect lives and property”, he stated.

Underscoring the significance of partnership with PEPSA, the Public Relations Officer of Super Bikers Club of Nigeria, Longzem Sallah declared that their unwavering synergy and partnership with the agency knows no bound towards ensuring a clean and hygienic Jos-Bukuru metropolis and Plateau as a whole.
