Plateau Attacks: FG Handover Relief Materials To 15,450 Victims

Federal Government through the ministry of Humanitarian affairs, Disaster management and social development, has handover assorted relief materials to Plateau state Government for onward distribution to about 15,450 affected victims attacks in the state.

The Honourable minister of Humanitarian affairs, Disaster management and social development, Hajiya Sadiya Farouk presented the relief items at Maxwell Kolbe Cantonment,3 Division Rukuba Barrack warehouse, Jos the state capital on Tuesday.

She said President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration is concerned about security and welfare of the citizens.

Governor Simon Lalong while receiving the items appreciates Federal Government for responding and deployed the relief materials.

Lalong assure judicious distribution of the items to direct affected persons to cushion their trauma.

He said his administration is working assiduously to ensure the victims were relocated to their abode.

He appeal to Federal Government to redeem the N10 billion earlier pledge to rebuild the houses of those who suffered attack sometime in 2018 in Gashes District Barkin Ladi Local Government Area where over 200 people lost their lives and properties worth millions.

You could recall shortly after the unfortunate development, the Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo visited the scene of the incidence and made the N10billion promised, building of Mobile Barrack among others.

Earlier, the Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Ahmed revealed that
Some of the Local Government Areas affected includes Jos North, Jos East, Barkin Ladi, Bassa and Riyom.

According to him “In the aftermath of the incidences, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has conducted a damage and loss assessment to guide humanitarian intervention to assist the affected communities to help them recover from the unfortunate events.

“A total of 15,450 people were identified as affected persons in five Local Governments of the state. Based on recommendation contained in the assessment report, His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, through the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development approved assorted relief items for distribution among the communities impacted.

“Today’s occasion, is therefore a fulfilment of that directive of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. It is also an expression for the Federal Governments deep concern over the welfare and wellbeing of the good people of plateau state, especially during this most challenging moment.

“The following; distribution to the otheeted ee nme for handover ane direct , 2000 bags ( 10kg) of rice, 2000 bags (10kg) of beans, 2000 bags (10kg) of maize, 144 kegs of vegetable oil (20ltrs), 200 cartons of seasoning, 74 bags of salt (20kg), 200 cartons of indomie Nodules, 200 cartons of Milo, 200 cartons of powdered Milk, . 200 cartons of bath soap, . 200 cartons of detergent, 1,000 pieces of Mattresses, 10 bales and 1,000 pieces of Wax Prints, 10 bales of used cloths and 40 bales of mosquito nets, 25 bales and 9 pieces of blankets, 17.20 bales mats, 16 bales and 20 pieces of Guinea Brocade, 600 bags of cement, 400 bundles of roofing sheets,

  1. 600 pieces of ceiling boards, 21. 300 bags of 6 inches nails, 22. 100 packets of zinc nails.

“I also want to implore all of us to once more live in peace and harmony with one another, because without peace there can’t be Progress and development in any society”, DG NEMA stated.
