Plateau State Government has debunked in strong terms a fake online application circulated on social media regarding N5 billion Federal Government palliative intervention.
A statement issued Friday in Jos by Honourable commissioner of information and communication, Plateau state, Musa Ibrahim Ashoms cautioned citizens of the state to discountenance such falsehood.
According to him, “The attention of the Plateau State Government has been drawn to a spurious link on the social media, calling on the unsuspecting public to apply on-line for palliatives.
“Apparently cashing in on the well-publicized Federal Government intervention measure arising from the consequences of subsidy removal, the link is at once patently fake.
“To be sure, the use of the social media to undertake a venture that targets populations that are largely cut off the social media cannot be the method of the Plateau State Government.
“Government machinery for undertaking interventions such as this take into consideration a number of factors including the complexities of the social media for large sections of the populace.
“Government therefore calls on the general public to disregard any social media call or link for application for the purported ₦5 billion palliatives funds,” the information commissioner concluded.
