The Convener, Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria (IBBN), Prophet Isa El-Buba has expressed optimism that the struggle to enhance Nigeria that would work for all is possible.

El-Buba said the current leadership policies at the center is suffocating Nigerians, hence the need to end bad governance.

The Clergy made the assertion Thursday in Jos, Plateau State capital as IBBN joined nationwide planned protest.

Our correspondent reports that as protesters converge at the Secretariat as early as 8:00 am in the morning, pressing home their demands to end bad governance, economy hardship, hike on electricity tariff, oil subsidy as well as insecurity bedeviling Nigeria.

“We must safe the present and future generations because the future is in our hands.”

El-Buba mentioned that, “I grew up in a country where education is free from primary, secondary to tertiary institution, and after graduation job is waiting for you. But the reverse is the case today and that is what we’re fighting for.”
A civil society organizations, under the aegis of citizens coalition against corruption and injustice has called on president Bola Ahmed Tinubu to declared state of emergency on food security with immediate effect.

The coalition group demands the president to set machinery in motion to take a review of his cabinet members and sack underperforming ministers.

Chris Iyama, country director Equity International Initiative (EII) and Convener Citizens coalition against corruption and injustice, said the current administration under president Tinubu is executing anti people policies.

Iyama, while addressing world press conference on the state of the nation, held in Jos Thursday as a response to planned nationwide protest which commenced 1st August,2024.

He revealed they stand citizens in demanding for good governance.

“Tinubu policies have not addressed hunger, economic hardship, and insecurity been experiencing in Nigeria is a consequences of poor governance.”

 The Convener further argued that there is no country in the world without a subsidy, but Tinubu removed oil subsidy without effective management.

“We demanding reversal of electricity tariff, transportation, and price control on commodities.

“We also want government to cut down bogus spendings on VIPs and other unwarranted demands.”

The executive director of CLEEN Foundation, Gad Peter, said Nigerians youths are demanding for good governance.

“The era of rhetoric is over…. We want to see a practical solutions by the government, ensure protection of lives and properties, economy that work for all.”
