Stop the carnage now to avoid another war – Okwuolise

Nigerians leader has been called upon to do the needful to curtail the current insecurity situations in the country to avoid the breakdown of peace in the country,
This called was made yesterday by the Guest lecturer, Hon.Mrs Anthonia N.Okwuolise at the Peace Summit organized by the Media Communication limited publisher of the “The Dialogue Magazine”
In her paper tittle Towards Self- Discovery for Genuine Peace, Growth and Development in Nigeria which is also the term of the summit urges political leaders to shun personal interest and put the national priority first for the general good of the land .
According to Hon. Okwuolise “Nigerians can not embark on another civil war, those that were born then, ould tell the story of what happened. She said, we have to think about the future of our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and generations yet unborn.
She also said, we have to be careful so that we won’t mistakenly throw them into slavery for the second time, or mortgage their future to strangers from America, Europe, and Asia Countries.
Give peace a chance for us to remain one Nigeria, and the Giant of Africa indeed. United they say we stand, divided we fall. Collective effort makes work easy. The more we are, the stronger we are. Let us be united once again, and make Nigeria work again. I believe Nigeria will, and can indeed be great again, she said.
The Chairman of the Occasion , Dr. Ibrahim Waziri, urged participants to think of peace dialogue as a panacea to building national unity as religious, tribes and geo-political region does not define stronger nations. For Nigeria to attain peace and national cohesion,”we”as people must leaned how to live as people. He say, our generation has let the youths younger ones down but it is not too late to address the problems he concluded “
In his words, Rt Hon Ghali, asserted that the two leading political party’s have not done anything different from each other’s, as most of the politicians are only playing political card of their party’s. He say the recent voting on the “Electronic transfer of results confirm his position as all they did, was to vote on party line and not the national Unity was paramount to the current challenges the country is going through.
The Event at the Banquet Hall of the National Merit House, Maitama, Abuja brought together Nigerians across the Country to discuss how peace can be used to aid peaceful coexistence among Nigerians and forestall a national unity.
Various speakers, including the former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives Hon Ghali Na’Abba and Dr Ibrahim Waziri a political Economist and former Special Adviser on Economic Planing to Isa Yaguda administration of Bauchi State were Chair the various sections of the discussions.
High light of the Event was the appointment of peace Ambassadors across the six geo political zones that will be leading the next phases of Peace Dialogue across their zones. Presentation of Awards to Nigerians who have contributed to peace building in their field, among the receipt to are Rt.Hon Ghali Na,Abba, Senator Abba Umoro, Dr Audu Mohammed, Hon Brisca Arron Jarom, Ambassador TY Danjuma.
Other Awardees are, Mr.Felix Tev Abunde, Hon. Mrs. Anthonia Okwuolise among others.
