TAT North Central Holds Stakeholders Sensitization In Jos

The appeal tax tribunal (TAT), North Central zone have on Wednesday held a sensitization forum for stakeholders in tax collection administration system in Jos.
The participants who grace the epoch making event at the serene city of Home of Peace and Tourism cut across public and private sectors.
Speaking at the sensitization forum, the coordinating Secretary of Tax Appeal Tribunal, Barr. Hajara Bolanle opines that the interaction is to let the general public know about the existence of (TAT) North Central zone which is located in Jos.
“TAT is a dispute resolution centre established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2010 as part of her reform of the Nigerian tax system.
“The Institution is established in accordance with section 59(1) of the Federal Inland Revenue Service Act 2007 to adjudicate on all disputes arising from operations of the tax law as stipulated in the first schedule these includes: companies income tax Act (CITA), petroleum profit tax Act (PPTA), personal income tax Act (PITA), capital gains tax Act (CGTA), stamp duties Act (SDA), Value added tax Act (VATA) as well as taxes and levies ( approved list for collection).
“The tribunal is as across the six geopolitical zones and also Lagos and Abuja. It consist of five members; we have the Lawyers, accountants and public civil servants as a tax administrators. It is a formal way of doing things.
The tribunal has been handling cases since 2010 that was established and our aimed is to boost Nigerian economy”, Bolanle mentioned.
However, chairman of TAT North Central Hon. Richard Umar Bala said the tribunal is least among the zones in terms of performance.
“The jurisdiction of the North Central covers Nasarawa, Benue, Kwara, Kogi, Niger and Plateau State respectively.
“As stakeholders within the jurisdiction, there is the need to be sensitized and to have a first hand knowledge of the tribunal and its mission”.
The North Central Tax Appeal Tribunal also appeal to Governor Simon Lalong to allocate land for them so that they can raise a structure on the Plateau been the headquarters of the zone.
