Three gang rape female student at Rivers varsity by Preye Michael
PORT HARCOURT – POLICE in Rivers state had confirmed at the arrest of two of three male students who allegedly gang raped a female student at the gnatius Ajuru University of Education, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Command, CSP Nnamdi Omoni, who on Friday confirmed the arrest on, said the police are on the trail of a third suspect.
Vice Chancellor of the varsity, Prof Ozo-Ndemele Mercuri had revealed, “We have arrested two of the suspects and handed them over to police, still searching for the third. Meanwhile, real occupants of the room have been sent out of the hostel.”
The incident, said to have happened inside one of the university’s campus hostels, on Friday attracted public condemnation with rights group, Centre For Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign which is calling for thorough investigations and trial of suspects.
Acting Secretary of the group, Mary Prince, said, “We have gotten in touch with the Vice Chancellor of the University and President of Student Union Government to stress the need for justice in the matter.
