Troops Intercept Terrorist Logistics Supplier, Recover Motorcycles and PMS in Katsina
Troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have disrupted a suspected terrorist supply route following the interception of a logistics supplier along the Gurbi–Zurmi corridor linking Katsina and Zamfara States.
Acting on actionable intelligence, the troops conducted a targeted stop-and-search operation on a commercial utility truck attempting to evade security protocols.
A search of the vehicle uncovered four brand-new motorcycles concealed in sealed packages, alongside 15 jerrycans containing 30 litres each of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS). The fuel had reportedly been disguised among containers of vegetable and palm oil.
The driver, identified as Mallam Abbas Umoru, was arrested and taken into custody.
Military authorities said preliminary investigations indicate that the seized items were destined for terrorist enclaves operating around the Katsina-Zamfara border area.
The interception is seen as a significant setback to terrorist logistics networks, particularly their access to motorcycles for mobility and fuel needed to sustain operations.
The suspect and recovered items remain in military custody as investigations continue to uncover other individuals and networks connected to the supply chain.
