The Director Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba on Thursday 8 November 2024, disclosed the number of Terrorists neutralized Arrested and rescued within the period of one month.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADIN KAI (NORTH EAST)

Troops of OP HADIN KAI sustained the tempo against terrorist and their cohorts across the NE theatre of operation. The troops conducted synchronized offensives between the air force and ground forces striking and dislodging terrorist from their hideouts and strongholds. The exerted military pressure on the terrorist resulted in some significant outcomes.

Overall, during the month of October 2024, troops of Operations HADIN KAI neutralized 198 terrorists, arrested 166 suspects and rescued 156 kidnapped hostages. Additionally, troops recorded 257 surrendered BH/ISWAP terrorists combatants and their families.

The summary of recovered items include: 73 AK47 rifles, 26 fabricated rifles, 18 dane guns, 12 assorted arms, 1,574 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 631 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 434 assorted ammunitions.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION SAFE HAVEN (NORTH CENTRAL)

Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN conducted offensive operations that dominated the theatre of Operation. Accordingly, the Plateau has experienced relative peace across the state.
During the month of October 2024 the troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN neutralized 30 violent extremist, arrested 140 and rescued 105 kidnap hostages. Troops also recovered 19 AK47 rifles, 5 fabricated guns, 18 assorted arms, 834 rounds of 7.62mm special, 112 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 75 assorted ammunitions.

OPERATION WHIRL STROKE (NORTH CENTRAL)

Troops of Op WHIRL STROKE prevailed over terrorist and the cohorts operating in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba States. During the month of October 2024, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralized 20 terrorists, arrested 61 suspects and rescued 60 kidnapped hostages.
Troops also recovered 18 AK47 rifles, 7 assorted arms, 741 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo and 85 rounds of assorted ammunition.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADARIN DAJI (NORTH WEST)

Troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI remained focussed on their mission to
create a conducive and stable security environment for agricultural activities and other forms of socio-economic activities in KADUNA, KATSINA, KEBBI, SOKOTO and ZAMFARA State in the NW. Troops embarked on several offensive operations canalising and destroying these terrorist on their hideouts and enclaves through ground and air operations.
Nevertheless, troops are confronted with a new terrorists Sect in the NW. The Sect is known as the Lakurawas and have their origin from IS in the Sahelian Region.
The Lakurawas are affiliates of terrorists from Republics of Mali and Niger. They began incursion into northern parts of Sokoto and Kebbi States, from the Niger and Mali axis, particularly after the coup in Niger Republic.
Prior to the coup, there were joint border operations with Nigerien security forces which kept the terrorist at bay. The terrorists took advantage of the gaps in cooperation between both countries and exploited difficult terrains to make incursions in remote areas in some NW states to spread their ideology.
The military cooperation between security forces in the Republic of Niger and own forces has been restored. This would help to tackle the new threat. Meanwhile, troops have sustained offensives to degrade these terrorists. Troops are locating them and eliminating the threat.
During the month of October 2024, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI neutralized 163 terrorists, arrested 82 suspects and rescued 80 kidnap hostages. Additionally, troops recovered 121 AK47 rifles, 32 fabricated guns, 53 assorted arms, 2,134 rounds of 7.62mm special, 1,015 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 75 assorted ammunitions.

Troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH recorded the following in the month of October 2024. Troops neutralized 30 terrorists, arrested 111 suspects and rescued 52 kidnap hostages.
Troops equally recovered 9 AK47 rifles, 16 assorted arms, 160 rounds of 7.62mm special, 43 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 36 assorted ammunitions.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION DELTA SAFE (SOUTH SOUTH)

Troops of Op DELTA SAFE maintained the momentum against the activities of crude oil theft. Troops continued to find and destroyed illegal refining sites as well as arrest the perpetrators of oil theft. Indeed, troops operations has progressively increased the nation’s daily crude oil production to over 1.5 million barrels per day.
During the month of October 2024, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE arrested 126 persons involved in crude oil theft. Troops also denied the oil theft of 3,226,645 litres of crude oil, 763,860 litres of AGO and 12,690 litres of PMS. Furthermore, troops recovered 429 assorted ammunition and destroyed 195 wooden boats as well as 216 illegal refining sites.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION UDO KA (SOUTH EAST)

Troops of Operation UDO KA conducted offensive operations against IPOB/ESN terror group in several SE states killing terrorist, making arrest and recoveries of weapons. Accordingly, IPOB /ESN incidents were recorded in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Imo and Enugu States.
Overall, troops of Op UDO KA in the month of October 2024, neutralized 40 terrorists, arrested 55 suspects and rescued 35 kidnap hostages.
Additionally, troops recovered 21 AK47 rifles, 24 pump action guns 19 assorted arms, 177 live cartridges and 191 assorted ammunition.
