Troops Rescue 14 Kidnap Victims, Recover AK-47, Ammunition in Katsina
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 14 kidnapped victims and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and a motorcycle during clearance operations in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, conducted on September 25, 2026, was part of sustained efforts by the troops to dismantle terrorist networks and deny criminal elements freedom of action across the area.
According to the operational account, troops deployed on routine security patrols along the Faskari axis intercepted a group of suspected terrorists. The troops engaged the terrorists and, leveraging superior tactical capability and firepower, overwhelmed the group, forcing the suspects to flee into the surrounding terrain.
During a subsequent clearance of the area, the troops rescued 14 abducted persons comprising 12 males and two females.
Preliminary assessment indicated that the victims had been abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki communities in Faskari LGA. The rescued victims have been provided with necessary medical attention and support as efforts continue to facilitate their safe reunification with their families.
In a related operation within the same area, troops also thwarted an attempted attack by suspected terrorists.
Following the engagement, the troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, quantities of 7.62mm special ammunition and a motorcycle reportedly used by the suspects.
The latest operation underscores the continued efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist and kidnapping networks, rescue victims and recover weapons used by criminal elements operating across Katsina State.
