Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have successfully thwarted multiple terrorist attacks and rescued 22 kidnapped victims in separate operations across Sokoto State.

The military said the operations formed part of ongoing efforts to eliminate terrorism and banditry in the North-West region and safeguard communities from criminal activities.

In the first operation, troops acted on credible intelligence indicating that terrorists had intercepted and attacked two civilian vehicles along the Sabon Birni–Shinkafi Road at Kura Mota village, abducting several passengers.

Responding swiftly, the troops mobilized to the scene and launched a pursuit operation against the terrorists. The sustained pressure and superior tactical manoeuvres by the troops forced the criminals to abandon their captives and flee.

As a result, 17 kidnapped passengers were rescued unharmed.

In a related operation, troops responded to a distress call from Chohi village, where terrorists had attacked farmers working on their farmlands. The troops rapidly deployed to the area, tracked the fleeing assailants, and successfully rescued a family of five who had been abducted during the attack.

The rescued family members have since been reunited with their community.

Military authorities said the successful operations demonstrate the determination of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to protect lives and property, particularly farmers and commuters who remain vulnerable to attacks by terrorists and bandits.

The operation reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining offensive actions against criminal elements and ensuring a secure environment for residents across the region.
