As controversy continues to trail the same faith presidential and vice presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), some Christian leaders and members of the party in Bauchi State have again condemned the ticket.

Speaking with press in Bauchi, they argued that the Muslim -Muslim ticket is unfair, unjust and against the unity and progress of the country.

They observed that the same faith presidential and vice presidential ticket of APC has further polarised Nigerians.

Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFB), Bauchi State, Pastor Promise Yohanna, maintained that the chapter aligns with the PFN national leadership position on the same faith ticket of the APC.

Also speaking on the issue, Solomon B Solomon, a card-carrying member of the APC, noted that even Muslims have condemned the same faith ticket of APC. Yusuf Musa Diga, an APC member from Tafawa Balewa has given an indication that the Christians won’t vote the Muslim-Muslim presidential and vice presidential ticket of the APC.

Meanwhile, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara Dogara; former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and other prominent Christian leaders in APC have continued with consultations in opposition to same faith ticket.

The Forum of Northern Christians in the ruling APC led by Dogara and Babachir convened a summit of Northern Christian leaders in Abuja, where they rejected the adoption of a Muslim-Muslim presidential and vice presidential ticket by the ruling APC.

Dogara said the APC ignored several warnings and appeals from stakeholders against the same Muslim-Muslim ticket.

However, the Secretary General of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Elder Sunday Oibe, has disowned the meeting held in Abuja about a fortnight ago by Dogara, Babachir and others with chairmen of the CAN from the region over the issue of same faith ticket.

The Secretary General of Northern CAN told press that the association’s position would be made known during the forthcoming general elections in the country.

He maintained that Northern CAN had since taken a position on the Muslim-Muslim ticket, and as such the recent meeting in Abuja was not at its instance.
