2027: Delta South APC Reaffirms Support for Tinubu, Oborevwori, Joel-Onowakpo, Others

Elders, leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta South Senatorial District have reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and other candidates of the party, vowing to mobilise for an overwhelming victory in the 2027 general elections.

The party elders and leaders, who spoke at the Delta South Senatorial District Mega meeting of leaders, elders and stakeholders held on Thursday in Warri, also resolved to close ranks, reconcile aggrieved members and strengthen the party’s grassroots structures across the senatorial district.

They said the APC must translate the support and confidence it enjoys among the people into actual votes at the polls, declaring that Delta South was poised to reclaim its position as a formidable political force in the state.

Speaking at the meeting, the senator representing Delta South, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, said the task before APC leaders and members was clear — to work collectively and deliver victory for the party and its candidates.

Thomas urged party members to return to their wards, units and communities to mobilise voters and convert the support for the APC into votes.

He said: “The task before us is victory. We have a responsibility to work together, mobilise our people and ensure that our party produces the maximum votes in the forthcoming elections.”

The senator appealed to all APC candidates to remain committed to the party and avoid actions capable of creating divisions, stressing that there was no room for complacency.

He also urged members to take the achievements of the Tinubu administration and the Oborevwori-led Delta State Government to the grassroots as part of the party’s mobilisation campaign.

Thomas said the people were watching the performance of the various governments and that the responsibility of party members was to properly communicate the achievements to the electorate.

Also speaking, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, said the political atmosphere in Delta South was changing, with youths and leaders across the various ethnic nationalities showing renewed commitment to the electoral process.

Guwor said the district was determined to improve its performance in the 2027 elections and challenged party members to ensure that all the 87 wards in Delta South delivered massively for the APC.

“Delta South will do better than before. We are determined to make Delta South the highest-performing senatorial district in Delta State,” he said.

The Speaker called for massive support for APC candidates at the National and State Assembly levels, including Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko, Basil Ganagana and other candidates.

He said the unity being witnessed among leaders and stakeholders was a major strength that must be sustained ahead of the elections.

The State Chairman of the APC, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, said the party was determined to reclaim the political strength Delta South was historically known for.

Arenyeka recalled the district’s political history, particularly since 1989, saying Delta South had always been a major political force but had lost some ground to Delta North in recent years.

He therefore urged leaders and members across the different ethnic nationalities and local government areas to unite and rebuild the party’s political structures.

He called for intensified mobilisation across Warri South-West, Warri North, Warri South, Isoko North, Isoko South, Bomadi, Burutu, Patani and other parts of the district.

Arenyeka reaffirmed the APC’s support for President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, its senators, members of the House of Representatives and State House of Assembly candidates, urging members to work collectively for their success.

In his welcome remarks, the Delta South APC Chairman, Chief Emmanuel Amgbaduba, said reconciliation and unity were essential to the party’s prospects following the conclusion of its primaries.

He urged members who had grievances over the primaries to put their differences aside and explore the party’s internal dispute-resolution mechanisms rather than allow disagreements to weaken the APC.

Amgbaduba also appealed to candidates who emerged from the primaries to reach out to those who contested against them, seek reconciliation and build inclusive campaign structures.

He said the party’s campaign must focus on taking the achievements of the APC-led governments to the grassroots, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare, economic development and empowerment programmes for women, youths and the elderly.

The Delta South chairman further directed local government party chairmen to work closely with the state leadership, maintain effective communication and promptly address issues arising within their respective areas.

The meeting attracted several prominent APC leaders and stakeholders, including Senator Stella Omu; Senator James Manager; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Johnson Erijo; Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors; Hon. Emmanuel Egbabor, State Organising Secretary of the APC; Mrs Ifeyinwa Sobotie, State Women Leader; and members of the National and State Assemblies, among others.

In their goodwill messages, Chief Bernard Okumagba, representing the Urhobo; Hon. Daniel Reyenieju, Itsekiri; Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Ijaw; and Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay, Isoko, urged party members to remain united and work for the success of all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

The stakeholders stressed that unity, reconciliation, grassroots mobilisation and effective communication of the achievements of the APC-led governments would be central to the party’s campaign.

They consequently charged party leaders and members across the district to return to their respective wards and units, mobilise the electorate and ensure that the renewed political momentum translates into an overwhelming electoral victory for the APC in 2027.
