Provost Receives FG Delegation, Highlights Importance of Sanitation, Hygiene to Health

The Provost of College of Health Sciences and Technology Ningi, Malam Garba Hussaini has received the Monitoring and Surveillance delegations from Federal Ministries of Health and Water Resources in his office at the college of health and technology administrative headquarters in Ningi, Bauchi state.

The delegations visited the Provost to actualuse the federal government’s responsibilities, and functional roles of ensuring water, sanitation and hygiene are(WASH) facilities to prevent the spread of infections and promote good healthcare facilities.

The focal point of this programme, is the development of the policies, recognized as an effective strategy for the prevention and control of diseases more especially epidemic prone diseases.

This is also in recognition that an effective WASH facility/system provides a break in the chain of diseases transmission, in the reduction of morbidity and mortality that may result from the epidemics of these infectious diseases.

In the light of COVID-19 and other emerging viral hemorrhagic fevers(VHDF’s), WASH services are essentially a familiar functions of local,state and federal public haalth agencies.

The Povost in his remarks appreciated the efforts of the delegations on water sanitation and hygiene in health care facilities in Nigeria.

The provost noted that this great services on hygiene should of paramount importance in making our health services workable by ensuring total sanitation of the environment against all forms of pollution.

In another development,the provost mentioned that this kind of program and services are in-lines with governor Bala Mohammad initiatives in upgrading and developing the sustainable services related to environmental hygiene across the state for the development and growth of critical health facilities to best acceptable global standards.

The college has already embarked on the ensuring total compliance with all health related indices,rules,principles and guidelines across the divides

And the provost added that this kind of committee or powerful federal government delegation has a lot of values in the eye of citadel of learning like this great college of health sciences and technology Ningi.

The provost wish them well in their responsibilities and prayed for their safety back to their respective domains.

On her part while making the closing remarks,the team lead Oluwofobi Yusuf Adeola,Director from Federal Ministry of Health,food and drugs services,Abuja,commended the provost and his management for the kind gesture and showed of commitment and professionalism in handling the affairs of the institution,she called on the stakeholders to continue to ensure total support of this prestigious institution.

The Director added that the aims of the visit was to create more awareness inline with sanitation of environmental activities,water hygiene in our health care facilities across the country.

She said,it’s part of the federal government commitment to collaborative efforts with key players and other critical stakeholders across the society in achieving the said objectives.

She further noted that,it is part of the sole responsibility and obligations of the above mentioned federal ministries in ensuring compliance with international and National guidelines on water,sanitation and hygiene exercise in health care facilities across Nigeria is aimed at guiding,standardization and strengthening the provision of WASH services by different stakeholders all levels towards addressing the prevailing WASH related problems in HCFs(Health care facilities in Nigeria.

She equally pointed out that safe drinking water,sanitation and hygiene are crucial to human health and well-being.safe WASH is not only a prerequisite to health,but contributes to livelihoods,school attendance and dignity and helps create resilient communities living in healthy environments,she concluded
