Security personnel must be physically, mentally fit to deliver effectively-GOC Abubakar

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Nigeria Army and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Plateau State, Major Gen. AE Abubakar has insisted that the security personnel must be physically and mentally sound to effectively deliver their constitutional mandate.
The GOC made the assertion Saturday in Jos the stat capital as security agencies stage a maiden walked.
Our correspondent learned that, the walked aims to booster synergy and collaboration among various security outfits on the Plateau.
Major Gen. Abubakar said, I am highly pleased to have you all with us today for this walked. As far as I’m concerned 10 kilometer walk for all security agencies on the Plateau. “We have over 20 different security agencies here, and over 1000 security agencies formed up. You cannot have this in any other place.
“The work that we do is to make sure the citizens on the plateau are safe. It is mentally demanding and physically challenging. And that is why we must keep fit. So that we are able to deliver on our constitutional mandate.
“The essence of this security walk therefore cannot be overemphasized. In the last 2 hours you have worked 10 kilometers. You have worked on all the muscles in your body. You are lighter, you are faster, you are healthier. And indeed, going forward you will be able to perform your roles optimally.
“A round of applause for yourselves. Above that, the command and vision philosophy of both the chief of defense staff, the chief of Army staff, and indeed all the service chiefs. And all the heads of the security agencies at the federal level rest on three basic fulcrum. And that is jointness, synergy and cooperation.
“And that is why we are here. To show the people on the Plateau today that we are one. We are cooperating with each other. And we work in synergized. To ensure that the Plateau is safe.
“Look at what we have achieved. A thousand of you came out as early as first light this morning, and we have walked around the whole metropolis. You don’t need any other evidence to show that all the security agencies on the plateau are working as one.
“I want to use this opportunity to also thank all the various heads of the security agencies. For the logistics that we have deployed. To make sure that this post security work is a success. And we would continue to sustain and maintain this at the end of every month because already we are seeing the benefits that is derivable from this exercise.
“So once again, well done. I wish you good luck. The task ahead is well clear cut. We just need to go out there and make sure we save lives and property on the Plateau”, the GOC charged personnel.
