Operation FANSAN YAMMA: Troops Rescue Abducted Locals, Neutralize 2 Terrorists, Seize Illicit Drugs In Katsina
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, have rescued abducted locals, neutralized two terrorists and recovered weapons during a clearance operation in Katsina State.
The operation was conducted under Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV following a distress call reporting terrorist activities in Kurudu Village, Kankia Local Government Area of the state.
The troops, working alongside personnel of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, swiftly mobilized to the area and engaged the terrorists upon arrival.
According to the military, the troops brought superior firepower to bear on the terrorists, neutralizing two of them and forcing the remaining elements to flee into the surrounding bushes.
The fleeing terrorists reportedly abandoned the abducted locals, who were successfully rescued unharmed.
During the subsequent exploitation of the area, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles and two magazines loaded with live ammunition.
In a separate operation, troops of Sector 2, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, conducted an intelligence-driven raid on August 14, 2026, at Gozaki Village in Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The joint operation resulted in the seizure of various illicit substances, including Cannabis Sativa, Tramadol capsules, Exol-5, D10 tablets, D5 tablets and Pregabalin capsules.
The recovered substances have been secured and handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation.
The latest operations highlight the continued collaboration between the military, community-based security personnel and law enforcement agencies in tackling terrorism, kidnapping and illicit drug trafficking across Katsina State.
