Contrary to reports that 18 students of Gamji College of Health Technology, Sokoto State, were abducted while travelling to their hometowns in Oyo State, credible information obtained by SpyeTV News from the institution has established that the passengers were not students of the college. The clarification revealed that only one of the passengers was a former student of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Sokoto, who had travelled to Sokoto to collect her academic certificate.

According to the clarification, the vehicle involved in the incident was a normal commercial passenger bus travelling from Yabo Moukwa in Sokoto State to Oyo State.

Among the passengers was only one person who had a connection with College of Nursing and midwifery Sokoto and not Gamji College of Health Technology. She was a recent female graduate of the College of Nursing and midwifery Sokoto who had travelled to Sokoto to collect her academic result/certificate.

The graduate was reportedly travelling back to Oyo State when the vehicle came under attack. Tragically, the driver of the bus, who was killed during the incident, was said to be her uncle.

The circumstances explain why her academic certificate was recovered at the scene of the attack, a development that may have contributed to the initial assumption that the vehicle was conveying a group of students from the college.

The clarification therefore dispels the narration that the 18 passengers abducted were students of Gamji College of Health Technology.

Speaking with our source from Gamji College of Health Technology on the incident said the victims were passengers travelling in the commercial vehicle, with only the former student of the College of Nursing and midwifery Sokoto among them.

The incident reportedly occurred along the route from Sokoto towards Oyo State, with the driver allegedly killed by the attackers before the passengers were taken away.

Earlier reports had also linked the incident to students of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, but subsequent clarification indicated that the passengers were not UDUS students.

The development has heightened concerns over the safety of travellers along major highways connecting the North-West and South-West, particularly following a series of abduction incidents reported on inter-state routes.

Authorities and relevant security agencies are expected to establish the identities and circumstances surrounding the victims as efforts continue to track the abducted passengers and secure their safe release.
