Nigerian Army Troops Neutralise Two Terrorists, Recover Weapons In Zamfara During Operation CLEAN SWEEP IV
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division have neutralised two terrorists and recovered two AK-103-2 rifles, ammunition and motorcycles during clearance operations across Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas of Zamfara State on August 14, 2026.
The troops cleared several communities, including Ungwan Sarkin Musulmi, Gidan Dutsi, Gidan Gini, Gidan Sambo, Dayau, Madiara and Dabah, before advancing into Birnin Magaji LGA, where they cleared Birnin Magaji Town, Dumpami, Gabake, Gidan Katakare, Godel, Kasheni-Kura, Dan-Wala, Sabon-Birni and Garin Kaso.
During the operation, surveillance at Dumpami detected terrorists at Magari Village. Troops later made contact with terrorists at Garin Kaso, neutralising two and recovering two AK-103-2 rifles, two magazines, nine rounds of 7.62mm ammunition and two motorcycles.
However, while withdrawing from Gidan Kaso, the troops came under an ambush by terrorists concealed in millet farms on both sides of the road. The soldiers fought through the ambush, with an unconfirmed number of terrorists reportedly neutralised.
One soldier sustained a gunshot wound to the right upper arm and was evacuated to a General Hospital for medical attention.
The operation highlights the Army’s continued efforts to disrupt terrorist activities, deny criminal elements freedom of movement and protect communities across Zamfara State.
