… Calls for collective continental action

The Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission has strongly condemned the recent xenophobic attacks against fellow Africans in the Republic of South Africa.

“These acts of violence, discrimination, and intolerance are not only unacceptable but stand in direct contradiction to the spirit of African unity, solidarity, and shared prosperity as enshrined in the African Union’s Agenda 2063,” the statement noted.

During an official engagement at the African Union Commission headquarters in Addis Ababa, the President of the Mission, Amb. Dr. Stephen Gbatigbi Ben-Joel, held high-level discussions with the Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security, Bankole Adeoye.

In the course of this engagement, the President emphasized the urgent need for proactive, citizen-driven mechanisms to prevent such crises across the continent.

Central to this discussion was the presentation of the Community Peace Monitor (CPM)—a groundbreaking digital and community-based solution developed by the Mission.

This innovative platform is designed to enable early detection of conflict signals, facilitate real-time reporting by citizens, and support timely escalation to relevant authorities.

The CPM represents a strategic tool for strengthening Africa’s early warning architecture and advancing the African Union’s “Silencing the Guns” initiative.

The Mission hereby calls on the African Union to unequivocally and decisively condemn these heinous acts against fellow Africans.

“Silence or passive responses risk emboldening perpetrators and undermining the continental vision of unity and integration.

“Furthermore, we respectfully urge His Excellency, Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the Republic of South Africa, to take firm and immediate action by ensuring that stricter penalties are enforced against those responsible for these attacks. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done, as a deterrent to future occurrences.

“Africa’s strength lies in its unity. We are one people, bound by a shared history, destiny, and aspiration. Xenophobia has no place in our continent.

“The Africa We Want is not merely an aspiration—it must be our lived reality.

“The Pan-African AU Agenda 2063 Diplomatic Mission remains committed to working collaboratively with continental institutions, governments, civil society, and citizens to promote peace, security, and sustainable development across Africa.
